Market Today news (11 July):
Indian equity index Nifty closed on a negative note near 25,150 on July 11. According to Bonanza’s research analyst Vaibhav Vidwani, the Indian stock market witnessed a sharp decline today. The Nifty 50 index closed at 25,149, down by around 0.81% or 205 points from the previous close. The BSE Sensex also dropped around 689 points or 0.8%, closing near 82,500.
The main reason behind this negative closing was the heavy selling pressure in IT stocks, triggered by disappointing Q1 results from major IT companies like TCS. The Nifty IT Index fell by approximately 1.7% today.
Other sectors under pressure included Auto, with the Nifty Auto Index closing down by about 1.77%. On the other hand, defensive sectors like Pharma and FMCG saw modest gains of around 0.55%. Even the Mid-cap and Small-cap indices registered a decline.
Uncertainties related to US tariffs and global recession concerns further weakened market sentiment.
